Finally I get to update blogs again after weeks of no internet at home.. Imagine the frustration and anxiety of so much work piling up!!! Anyways, today's post is going to be covering Crystal Balls and Scrying Mirrors, of which I own both. My crystal ball is a solid clear Quartz Crystal ball about 2" in diameter. It has very few inclusions in it and is completely and naturally clear on 3/4 of the surface area. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect one if I tried. The recommended size for crystal ball is around 4" in diameter but pick whatever size is comfortable to you. I have a Black Glass Scrying mirror that is about 3" across in diameter and I paid a very small price for it. Obsidian Scrying Mirrors are the best kind to buy if you really want the quality and are willing to pay for one. I suggest getting a large palm sized flat obsidian stone and working with that or even buying a small Obsidian Crystal Ball, then you would have best of both scrying tools! I have seen several glass crystal balls, I say the crystal ones are much better! If you want specific divination answers, say for love matters, you can get a Rose Quartz ball, or if you want answers for Money and financial matters you could try Green Adventurine, Jade or any other type of stone associated with luck ,money and financial matters. Amethyst spheres are also great for third eye work if you cannot find a suitable clear quartz one, choose one that has a dark purple hue and is not riddled with too many cracks and inclusions inside, you at least need a clear window to focus on inside the stone.
Crystal balls work differently than obsidian or glass mirrors, as you focus and gaze into your ball, you will notice a cloudy appearance that slowly dissolves into a pure black background, when this blackness rolls away, a image or scene will appear. This takes a lot of practice for beginners and it is very difficult for most of us to see visions or images in a crystal ball, about 4 out of 40 people will automatically have a vision or see something the first few tries. I can honestly say I have had less than 10 episodes where I have seen a true image appear in my ball, and I have had mine well over a year now. Sometimes crystal gazing gives me a headache afterwards or I just cant focus at all and I end up putting it away until I can meditate better and focus more clearly. You would think that me being a Earth Sign, and crystals come from the earth, that this would be a easy thing for me but somehow it isn't. You are not actually seeing a image inside the crystal, it is actually the opposite, you already have the vision in your subconscious and it projects from your third eye and is displayed on the surface of the crystal ball or mirror. Imagine a stream of light containing images going from your third eye to the crystal like a movie projector. Crystal balls should never be allowed to see direct sunlight, and should be cleansed periodically with a mild solution of vinegar and water or with just blessed water and kept covered in a black cloth or in a dark box or drawer when not in use. Some make a infused water made from hot water and white sage like a tea, and bathe their ball or mirror with the liquid to cleanse away any psychic debris and negative vibrations until the next use. The best time to use a crystal ball or a scrying mirror is on the full moon and the night of a new moon.
Mirrors, made of plain clear or black glass, obsidian, work best with candle or water magic. A small candle either in purple, black or silver, set to the farthest right of the mirror allows light to shimmer delicately across the mirror surface and gives the reader something to focus on. They can also be suspended over or propped into the side of a bowl of pure spring water and the candles reflection off the water makes shimmering reflections to gaze into the mirror with. Shapes and images will appear to dance and sway in the reflections of water and candle light. If you are not using water, then expect to see shadowy images appear in the sides and around the corners in your mirror, and sometimes even directly behind or beside you as if the image were standing there looking into the mirror with you. I have had this happen and the first time I saw this it made me jump I wasn't expecting to see that and it made me lose the vision. If you happen to see a deceased relative or a unknown stranger peering in your mirror behind you do not freak out and lose your vision!!
I have better success with mirror gazing, they are great for spirit work and for asking questions involving the aide from spirits, ancestors, spirit guides, and even darker entities if one so chose. Benevolent Spirits are attracted to white, lilac purple, grey and silver colored candles and pure clean water. The burning of incenses like sage, sweetgrass, or copal, or any type of blend used for scrying, to attract Benevolent Spirits to your mirror and to see visions in the wafting tendrils of smoke going across the glass or stone is also a great way to try mirror gazing. For seeing and conversing with darker themed entities and spirits you would need black or silver candles, and choose a "dark" scented incense such as sulfur powder, opium, or a blend of herbs designed to draw in your chosen dark spirit or entity. I caution everyone against this darker themed idea as negative or dark spirits and entities can use the mirror as a spiritual opening to enter the living world and then you could end up with problems that you do not want. Using a mirror to summon a demonic force or a entity with negative energy is essentially inviting it inside your life and home and sometimes this can be dangerous. Be careful to cast protective circles around you, onto the surface of the mirror, and the space where your mirror is sitting to prevent negative entities from coming through the mirror and being released into your home and in your life.
The correct way to gaze into a mirror is to not look at your direct reflection in the mirror, rather you are to be looking at it from the side, or in a angle to where your reflection is not seen at all. Most mirrors can be mounted on a plate holder base or elevated at a angle on a flat surface. If suspended over a bowl of water the bottom of the mirror needs to be about a inch from the surface of the water, and if propped inside the bowl then the water inside the bowl no deeper than a couple inches. The large mirror on top of your dresser or vanity table can make a fine divination mirror. Like the crystal ball your mirror is to be kept clean and wrapped in dark fabric and not allowed to be in direct sunlight. Large mirrors can be draped with a opaque dark cloth so that no light is touching the surface.
